The Victorian Parents Council is a volunteer-led ACNC registered charity that began in 1959, dedicated to everyone who supports parents in educating their children across Victoria, throughout Australia and beyond.
A vibrant community.
Established in 1959 as the Parents and Friends Federation of Victoria, the organisation evolved over time through the collaboration of parents of Catholic and Independent school students to become what is now known as the Victorian Parents Council (VPC).
For more than six decades, VPC has supported parents, families and everyone who plays a role in educating and nurturing children. As an ACNC registered, volunteer-led charity, we believe that it truly takes a village to raise a child. This belief underpins everything we do as we stand alongside parents, families and the wider community, working together to help children to thrive.
In our advocacy role, VPC is the recognised Parent Peak Body and Voice for parents and families in non-government schools across Victoria. We advocate for policies and initiatives that strengthen education and support positive outcomes for children and young people.
Through our resource work, guided by our vision, values, and commitment to equity, accessibility and inclusion, we provide trusted information, practical resources and learning opportunities for parents, families, educators, schools and anyone with an interest in education. We proudly share these resources across Victoria, throughout Australia and beyond because we believe informed, engaged and connected communities create better outcomes for children.

- 2019
2019 marked a milestone year for the Victorian Parents Council — our 60th anniversary and a time of transformation. As a not-for-profit, volunteer-led organisation with limited government funding, we recognised the need to evolve to remain sustainable, accessible and connected to families and educators.
Our VPC Podcasts, launched in 2018, had already begun expanding our reach and connecting us with a growing online community. To celebrate six decades of advocacy, we hosted two sell-out events at Scotch College featuring renowned speaker Stephen Biddulph. We also began developing a new website, launched in early 2020, creating a stronger digital home for our community.

The move to online platforms opened new opportunities to reach parents and educators beyond traditional events. In 2020, COVID-19 accelerated this transformation, leading to the creation of #VPCLive — our webinar series bringing expert speakers, practical information and meaningful conversations directly to families and educators, wherever they are.

Today, VPC Parent Podcast Series are featured in the Great Australian Pods Podcast Directory, alongside leading Australian podcast creators contributing to important national conversations about education, wellbeing and family life.

Looking ahead
In 2026, VPC is taking another exciting step forward with the launch of a new website and the VPC Community Portal.
The new platform will bring together our resources, events, podcasts, information and opportunities to connect — making it easier for parents, families, educators and the wider community to access knowledge, share ideas and be part of the VPC community.
It is the next chapter in our journey: building on more than six decades of advocacy while embracing new ways to connect, inform and empower the community for the future.
Who runs the Council
The Victorian Parents Council is managed by a voluntary committee of management called the State Executive, and the operations of the Council are managed by the Executive Officer. The State Executive are dedicated volunteers who manage Council direction and governance, and are elected once a year at the AGM.
Dr Eveline Jona
President and EO
Eveline Jona is an experienced medical practitioner with a strong background in community and child health across several countries. Her longstanding commitment to supporting children, families and education has seen her actively contribute to school and parent communities in the Netherlands, UK, Hungary, Germany, Malaysia, the Czech Republic and Australia.
Eveline served as a Board Member and later President of the St Leonard’s College Parents Association from 2006 to 2010. She has been a dedicated member of the Victorian Parents Council since 2011 and has played an active role in its leadership and advocacy.
Her international experience, combined with a lifelong commitment to child and community wellbeing, continues to shape her leadership of the Council and its work to empower and connect parents, families and everyone involved in children’s education.
