Safer Internet Day 2020, Tuesday 11 February

On Safer Internet Day, millions of people around the world unite to raise awareness about online safety issues and inspire positive change. So it’s a great opportunity to start that chat about online safety with the kids in your life. Celebrated in 150 countries. In Australia, the eSafety Commissioner is responsible for managing and promoting Safer Internet Day.
You can use eSafety’s ideas and resources to help improve the online safety of your family and your community, not just on Start the chat, but every day of the year.

Epilepsy Smart Schools

1 in 200 students live with epilepsy. Read in this article about the importance that all schools are becoming Epilepsy Smart Schools. Epilepsy can have a big impact on a child’s experience at school due to the impact of seizures and any medication they may be taking, making it hard for a child to concentrate or remember information from class. Epilepsy is more than just seizures and first aid training is not enough. Four Ways to Foster Gratitude in Children

Grateful kids and teens are less likely to experience depression or jealousy, and more likely to do well in school, according to research from the American Psychological Association.  Researchers have identified four parts of gratitude that help children practice gratefulness using the “notice-think-feel-do” questions.  Kids may not always be able to answer all of these questions, but practicing them will reinforce the habit of expressing gratitude and appreciation over time.
